Provocans Ad Volandum
Motto – St Xavier’s College, Mumbai (Latin, Encouraging to Fly)
There are some parts of oneself, that one discovers. Some parts, that one creates. Xavier’s was where I discovered some aspects of myself while also creating the rest. It wasn’t just a college (as most of us would like to say). It was a way of life. It was my way of life. A degree in Economics with minors in Political Science and Sociology. This gamut of Social Science disciplines has enabled an approach to things. And the extra-currics that Xavier’s is known for. It’s been 5 years of absolute joyride.
I’d like to believe, it gave me roots and wings!
A snapshot of the take-aways!
I have a basic understanding of Excel and Power Point, and I’m also good at academic research writing and presentations. I’ve developed strong time management skills, which came in handy when balancing college fests, continuous internal assessments, and long train journeys.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with peers, juniors, and seniors from diverse backgrounds, which has taught me a lot about communication and collaboration. I’m not afraid to ask questions and make mistakes, and I always try to initiate and intervene whenever possible.
I’m a lifelong learner, and I’m always looking for ways to build my character and broaden my horizons. I’ve made lasting friendships and engaged in friendly banter with my peers in the college canteen/foyer. I’ve also learned the value of agreeing to disagree, which is an essential part of a humanities education.
Overall, I’m grateful for the diverse range of people, opinions, and opportunities that I’ve been exposed to during my time in college, and I’m excited to see where my skills and experiences will take me next.
MALHAR 2015
Got a chance to head one of Asia’s largest youth festivals. With a workforce of over 1200 and a footfall of thousands per day, the Malhar experience was more than just special. It was defining.
